Could always go old school and the V6 twin turbo RS4, which gives shed loads of torque and very tunable to serious power. Not a RS4 but the tuned S4's I had felt allot quicker than a stock V8 RS4 due to the immense torque and little to no turbo lag.
Problem is the older RS4's are now going for the same money if not more than the V8, and will have 100K miles on them. But again can only see them going up and up in value and a proven bullet proof engine capable of rocket ship miles.
