N gauge should not be hard, plenty of kits around.

You need to try Z, Zm and T gauge for vehicles etc. Z=1:220, Zm is narrow gauge Z ( Swiss RHB ), T gauge= 1:450 (Japanese prototype).

I have built etched brass kits and Nickel Silver in Z and have some for T when I have new glasses, eye test on Sunday.
