i wouldn't be too worried about looking like an STI under the bonnet, loads of people drop STI engines into WRXs and it looks good.
I'd go red top, and leave the STI on the intercooler. Putting WRX on it will make it harder to sell if you ever decide to go front mount (come on, at the rate your modding, it won't be long!
