Default European Rallycross, Lydden Hill, Bank Holiday Monday 31st May

Apologies if this should be elsewhere in the forum, but I saw the last rallycross meeting got a thread here, so I thought I'd post in the same place again!

Bank Holiday Monday 31st May is the third round of the European Rallycross Championship at Lydden Hill. Just in case you're a bit in the dark as to what rallycross is, it involves grids of 4 -6 cars racing round mixed surface tracks. The races are short (3 laps for heats, 4 laps for finals) so you get to see a lot of races in one day. Plus if its a boring race, its over quickly! The cars in the top (Division 1) class include a lot of ex-WRC and WRC-derivied machines, all of which are running 550+BHP!

The level of competition in the European Championship is very high, with a number of works teams and some very skilled drivers. There are several Brit drivers in the running this year, and all of them are looking competitive, so it'll be interesting to see how they do on their home turf!

If you haven't been to Lydden before then its a great circuit to watch as you can pretty much see the whole circuit from any point on the track. Its just down the road from Dover; so to get there is only a quick blast down the M2 or M20 for most South East folk!

Postcode for the Lydden Hill circuit is CT4 6RX, or find it on Google Maps here:

Racing kicks off at around half 9 and normally ends around half 4 - 5; even if its busy, you should get out of the circuit pretty quickly, so you haven't got a long crawl home afterwards.

Just to give you an idea what you can expect to see if you haven't been before, here's last years Division 1 ERC final from Lydden Hill...
