If your not chasing huge BHP. Then from my experience and opinion I think the TD04 is a very nice turbo for a road car that gives good performance once remapped and very little lag.

My current scoob has a VF28 running circa 300bhp and prior to that was a VF35 running circa 320bhp. And prior to that was a TD04 with a tek2 map running circa 270bhp all in calssic with stock top mounts, and OEM fuel pump.

From 0 - 5500rpm which is where I do 95% of my driving the TD04 was a better drive. But it has hardly any go above 5500. But the VF from 5000-7000rpm had lots more legs but was compromissed below 4000rpm.

Out of the 3 the best daily driver for me was the TD04 tek2. BHP isn't everything....

TD04's are generally cheap as chips and plentiful because nearly everyone who ownes a scoob seems to go on a wild persuit for BHP.

But thats just my personal thoughts, and everyone is different and has different objectives.
