The good old oil debate! It has kept many a long thread going

In fairness, I have to bow to your vastly superior knowledge on points like this

I have gone with Mobil1 15w-50 since my rebuild and find it does a grand job, good consistent temps, less noisy with the forged pistons etc. What would you recommend as an alternative to this, as I am always open to try something new that will be beneficial.

I used to used Shell Helix Ultra, as recommended by Bob Rawle, until mine went pop en route to Germany a couple of years back.
