Thats all very true Clive. James's problem is that he didn't actually spec the build and instead bought what should have been a properly built engine. If James had specced the engine, it would have been done properly, as I'm sure many people would vouch. He doesn't do things by halves.
I think that in this case it would be incredibly difficult to know where to apportion any blame, or if in fact you even could. Although looking at some of the build errors, they should never have happened. We can't comment on the specs given to the builders though, as the parts for the build list may have been not top notch. Speaking with James yesterday, he was saying there are parts that him & Stew can't even recognise the make on?
It's all a bit of a minefield really in this case, unfortunately, James is footing the bill for whichever one of the parties involved made a hash of.
Clive, I have been on the end of some snide comments in the past during my engine build. I'm sure you know the ones "just throwing money at it" kind of comments and much worse. But what I did do was spec as highly as I possibly could, I set myself a 420/420 bhp/nm target that was easily achievable (allegedly

) and now I'm there I'm a very happy man. I know I have probably overspent on several occasions and the bit's I have bought are capable of much more, but I wanted bulletproof all the way and am 100% stopping at that.
That's probably set me up for blowing mine up now!!!
