Took it out and made sure it was well warmed up then very gingerly increased revs a little at a time, all good. Took it somewhere more suitable and stretched her legs in 2nd, 3rd, and a little 4th, no problems at all. Seems you were correct and it was the rain. At the very least i can rule out an air leak anywhere and if it happens again and it's not raining, then I think I can safely say it's the MAF on its way out. Many thanks for your help, greatly appreciated. A very relieved Stu
