all sorted now
looks like it was the OE mounts but they did look to be ok, did ask at RCM with regards to changing them but they seemed to think the OE ones were up to the job? maybe it had the stronger ones one?
anyway, taking on board your knowledge of all things FSTi, decided to go for some uprated mounts, although the shiney side of me wanted the alloy ones over the metal so went for those insted
