Default British Rallycross Championship R6 2017 – Lydden Hill

It was a few weeks ago, but only just got round to uploading a few photos from Round 6 of the British Rallycross at Lydden Hill.

The Retro Rallycross class had its best entry for years, with a load of Escorts joining in.

The mixed grids in Super 1600, Hot Hatch and the BMW Mini provided some excellent racing, pooling those categories was a superb idea.

Julian Godfrey had a poor start to the year, but wins at Rounds 3, 4 and 5 made him one of the favourites for Lydden…

…having lost an earlier round at Lydden due to a puncture in the final, Warren Scott looked set to give Julian a run for his money.

Steve Hill seems to finally be getting some consistency out of his Evo X. He has had such a long run without success I would love to see his persistence pay off and a win (or two) come his way.

With his Fiesta prepared for use in France, Ollie O’Donovan was using his Focus for Lydden. Sadly a puncture ended any hope he had of winning.

Supercar engine porn. I was amazed just how far back they have managed to push the engine into the car.

Chrissy Palmer once again dominated the RX150 buggies. Although other drivers have managed to challenge at individual events, Palmer is consistently fast and took another victory.

Barry Stewart managed to hold off the pack of Escorts to win the Retro Rallycross final.

Despite some fierce competition Warren Scott managed to take the Lydden victory that had eluded him earlier in the year. With Godfrey finishing off the podium, the Championship standings have closed in and it could be an interesting end to the season!
