Eight and a half hours is a long day out for a three year old.
As I say, could be fine, but he could just as easily get really tired and throw a wobbly. The public at large don't need to be subjected to that!
It's a bit of a shame if I have read that correctly, as it's a bit of a sledgehammer to crack a nut. One whole club naffing off is very different from one car from a club leaving early.
