I went for Halfords one at £85. Although cheap, It seemed to be fairly highly recommended, particularly for beginners. It came with three pads but I bought ‘better’ ones.

I’ve used it twice on cars that had a fair few swirls etc and I have been well pleased with the results. I also bought a swirl light which is brilliant for seeing the swirls the eye can’t. There are loads of YouTube vids that helped me, particularly ‘pantheorganiser’ and ‘forensic detailing channel’. Both have great tutorials.

It’s a slippery slope though as it doesn’t end at the polisher. Compounds, polishes, Microfibers, sprays, it’s endless, but great fun.
