Default British Rallycross Championship R1 & R2 2021 – Lydden Hill

Seems to have been an age since we have done things per normal but spending a Bank Holiday weekend watching racing at Lydden definitely felt like a big step back in the right direction!

With a huge entry list of 100 cars (spread across 12 classes), the event ran round one on Saturday and round two on Monday to permit maximum circuit time. Few pictures…

Roger Thomas has been using this M-Sport Fiesta for a couple of years now, but I still can’t get enough of it. Easily my favourite looking rallycross version of the Fiesta.

World Rallycross driver Liam Doran made an appearance in the family rallycross RS200. He had planned to try and set the fastest lap of the weekend, but the car had some issues on Saturday before eating its front diff first thing on the Monday. Shame it wasn’t out more, but still cool to see it.

Massive grid – with a huge amount of variety - in the Super Retro class: hard to pick a favourite!

Electric cars made their competition debut in British Rallycross. The handful of cars were pretty close, though I think they’d have made a better impression on fans if they had been a bit more numerous.

Roberts Vitols had a weekend drive in a C4 Supercar as a prize for winning the Super 1600 title last year. Not only was he quick from the outset, but he managed to win the opening round and was a challenger in round two as well. Most impressive.

Lacking ultimate pace at round one, Derek Tohill had a much better day on Monday and went on to beat all the regulars and win round two. It was a great final and brilliant end to the long weekend.

Loads more pictures here if you want to see any more!
