Default British Rallycross Championship R1 2020 – Lydden Hill

As BigE started a thread I assume that there was at least one member of the forum at this?

Few pictures from the first round of the British Rallycross Championship at Lydden on the August bank holiday weekend. A revised format and obviously CV-19 crowd restrictions for 2020, but the action on track was as good as ever.

Although CV-19 prevented a lot of Irish and European drivers from attending the entry numbers were still decent and the Retros had their best entry for sometime.

E92 M3 is a new build for 2020. Looked good and sounded fantastic out on track.

Julian Godfrey is back chasing his seventh title. It was unusual to see Godfrey struggling with technical issues in the qualifiers, but he managed to get them all sorted in time for the finals.

Oliver Bennett was using the event as a shakedown for his World Rallycross Mini and he absolutely blitzed the qualifying, winning all four sessions. Unfortunately he was excluded for a technical issue...

...so the fight for first was fought between Julian Godfrey and rallycross rookie Mark Donnelly. The two had a fantastic scrap in the final, with victory eventually going to Mark.

So good to be back at a circuit again. Can't imagine it is going to happen much more this year, so I was rather glad that the racing here was so good!
