If you go with a thermostatic one then it will be fine, and the extra oil capacity is always a bonus.

My 2.5 with a cooler got up to temp only about 2-3 mins slower than without but it never got above 90 on the road and peaked at 110 on track. Without a cooler 100+ on road was common. Make sure you get a thermostatic sandwich plate though as you don't want the cooler to be 'in use' if the oil isn't getting up to temp.
