Took it out for a run and it has reduced the noise down by a good few dB. It's not totally silent, but a lot more tolerable and actually makes the car a nicer drive and not too shouty on every squirt.
I can add a little rubber sound deadening on the inside if need be.

The heatshield does not toally seal on the inner wing, it never has. I did purchase some rubber seal but it's not big enough to take up the gap, hence rubber seals on the inside may be a neater solution.
