Hi Ross
E markings are not the be all and end all of road legal tyres, it is illegal for UK tyre companies to sell non E marked tyres for use on the road, but for example jap imports with non E marked tyres can run on the road because the law states tyres only need to be 'fit for purpose' so be road legal, as well as meeting other criteria (min tread %, tread depth etc).
I just need the MSA to clarify that all tyres in the 1B list are considered 'fit for purpose' irrespective of the E marks or whether it is for competition use only. The tyres I have do have enough tread and depth of tread to be used on the road, no E marks though - just like JDM Bridgestone RE070's
