Default British Rallycross Championship R6 & R7 2021 – Lydden Hill

What looks to be my last live motorsport of the year, Lydden Hill hosted the British Rallycross Championship for the second time this year.

Few pictures for you…

Always remember for the best times you should really hang on to all your wheels…

Roberts Vitols has been the breakout star of 2021. His car has been a bit unreliable in qualifying, but he has put in some immense performances in the finals.

Jack Thorne has raced sporadically in the Supercar class, but sold his last car to Andrew Jordan earlier this year. He picked up this 208 shortly before Lydden and drove the car for the first time there…

…he was silly fast in it, beating all the regulars throughout the qualifying races on both days and winning one of the two finals. If he runs a full season next year he'll unquestionably be a Championship contender.

Derek Tohill started the weekend chasing the Championship leader, but after two very consistent days he managed to finish the weekend at the top of the standings.

Racing on Saturday concluded with a Supercar final under floodlight. Terrible picture, but hopefully it gives you a rough idea how cool the cars looked with glowing discs!

This was originally supposed to be the penultimate round(s) of the British Rallycross Championship, but with the conclusion at Spa cancelled, this ended up being the finale. Shame we didn’t know during the weekend as the confirmed winners could have celebrated!
