You need to sort out the fundamental running issues before approaching your mapper, as they is a good chance there are plumbing or mechanical issues and not ECU related. You mapper may well turn you away if the issue is not sorted/diagnosable by mapping.
There is also a possibility the mapper will work around the issue rather then resolve it. This is never a good idea as there's only one winner in this situation and it's not the customer.
