262bhp as they toned down a touch from the jap 280bhp.
The prodrive version was 300bhp.

The early sti newage avcs engines are strong and was lead to have forge pistons stronger rods and crank. Not machine forged but cast stronger. Can run 450bhp on these. I love mine. Everyday is a good car. But doesn't have that feel any of my classics had. I think the ultimate impreza for me would be newage engine and box in a v5-6 type r. Havnt driven a spec c or widetracked to comment on these yet.

Yes and for most days I'd have the bug back .
Once on track the type r wins though

Is it really 262bhp? That's what the PPP on the WRX gets (well, claims) so seems unusual to set the two the same.

The FSTi is 265bhp in standard guise (on UK fuel) and I always assumed it was the same.

I know we're talking about a difference of 3bhp, so this might seem a touch daft to query, but I'm just curious. It's an earnest question.

Why choose between a bug and a type r when you can have both ?
