Unhappy scooby stuck

Trying to get back home, i got the scooby stuck on a small hill a neighbour told me only 1 front wheel was turning, but both the rears where.Surely both front wheels should be trying to pull me up the hill ?

That ain't good mate. Is it a really steep hill and Icy?

As you have differential on the front as well as the back, if you have one wheel on ice and the other isnt, the wheel on ice will spin and you will lose drive on that axle.
Unless you have the facility to lock your dif.

It's a small hill but quite steep, just wanted to make sure there was nothing wrong with the front diff on the car as i'am not clued up when it comes to cars. many thanks for ur replys

Correct Ian

If you had DCCD centre diff it may have helped divide the power front to rear, but the wheels will still spin side to side.

With my WR1, that has the DCCD I can lock the rear dif.

You can lock the centre diff with the DCCD. The rear could be a plated diff (LSD) so should limit the slip between wheels

Is the Auto mode for this taken from the Legacy VDC by any chance? It sends the power all over the place if you give it some beans in the snow

When the old fella (sorry padre) rescued me the other day from a very steep iced up road in town (king edward ave) i believe this fact was proven as there was a noticable difference between the auto function and lock on the dash? I believe wasnt it standard on all stis 05>?
