I'm considering selling my beloved scoob to start another scoob project. I'm still only considering it at the moment and looking at the figures. The question is do you think I'll get more breaking the scoob and put back as standard or selling as a complete car? It would be a huge shame to break though after all the work that's gone into it, but not sure what it would be worth. Spec is as follows:
03 STi blob WR blue 57,000 miles 400 bhp Hyperflow front mount intercooler Hyperflow top mount oil cooler Fuellab fuel pressure regulator Perrin turbo inlet hose MD321H turbo 650 injectors Cusco zero 2E shocks with in car controller- just corner weighted/geo'd STi S203 trailing arms & lateral links Perrin front anti roll bar Perrin drop links all round Perrin positive steering response kit PF front discs PF pads, spare set of new PF pads. Whiteline rear anti roll bar STi Yamaha S203 harmonic damper (not really sure it does anything!) STi front/ rear strut braces Milltek 3" exhaust turbo back decat, with cat for MOTs Prodrive PFF7 wheels with new Bridgestones Extra set of wheels fitted with winter tyres Prodrive diff guard V10 interior V limited lip spoiler Zunsport grilles I'm sure there's some more things I've forgotten about... So, I guess the question is how much do you think someone would be prepared to pay for the car as is? Prices seem all over the place on PH and eBay. I'll then look at book price and see if it's worth the hassle of putting back to standard. Or I might just choose to keep it!! |

Tough one as you say prices are all over the place, and most for sale are still for sale, and hawks are good money these days. Even cars you might consider to be a good price are still for sale.
But I have to say if yours was in silver or black, the spec would be perfect if I were consider a blob. Even down to the quieter Milltek. With regards to price, I'm not directly in the market right now, but if the price was right I would be interested.. |

Hi Ian. The intention with the car was to have one that I could use occasionally on the road but with a set up so I could get the most out of it for use on track days. In reality with changing work pressures I have done zero track days and now doing more mileage with a need for something more practical. It will have to still be a scoob as I couldn't not have one, but something more practical, more efficient and less extreme!

I believe the hatch are more efficient. I think personally I would may be look at a Honda Civic Type R or the new Megane Cup. Both of which you could happily put on a track and have plenty of fun.

It's a VERY well spec'd car, and TBH i think anything else.... even another Subaru.... would be a disappointment.

Thanks for the advice- it's much appreciated. It is a tough decision after getting it to exactly where I wanted. After sitting down and doing some sums with the current MPG and now having to use it more mainly on motorways only, the cost doesn't make sense. Ideally I'd like to keep it and get another daily runner but i can't really justify getting another car!
I guess I need to think on it some more! |

I can only echo everyone else's statement - its a cracking car and hope you decide to keep it.
No other scoob is going to be sufficiently better on petrol to justify the time and effort of swapping (unless you get a hatch diesel or something - but thats not a proper scoob!). |

If your plan was another scoob to replace it, then 100% makes sense to keep it IMO. If your looking for something more refined, better MPG, and german etc then fair enough.
But to replace a scoob with a scoob seems a bit daft. All Scoobs drink petrol and none of them had build qualilty or comfort in mind when they were built. If there are certain aspects of your car you don't like as a daily driver, then chop out the bits and replace them. I'm guessing the suspension is hard to live with day to day and very low which would be a concern of mine ![]() Better a devil you know and all that |

I agree with virtually all that Rob has said to be honest. Unless you are swapping it for something German, stick with what you have got.
With the Cusco Zero 2's, wind them back a bit and make them more comfortable for your daily drive. That's the advantage of fully adjustable at the end of the day. I can't remember what map you went with, but the next step would be to have Simon set you up a low boost and more economical map that is switchable to your high boost current map if you wanted to have a play. As stated, swapping a scooby for another scooby for better economy is a bit of a waste of your time mate, you will save very little. It's a tough decision you face mate and I'm sure you'll make the right one for you, whatever it may be. ![]() |

Got to agree with Rob and Steve, it isnt worth changing for another scoob, unless you are happy to go newer and be disiplined enough to not mod it atall and accept it for what it is, that way reliablility will be better, but even then, the MPG wont be a huge difference, if any. Its a cracking car, and I think once it has gone you may regret it as its built for you. Whatever you decide, good luck with it, but just make sure you stay in a scoob!!
