Default engine cleaning
hey guys.had my car for a couple of months now and think its about time i gave her a good going over.hopefully not working the weekend and want to have a go at the engine.whats the best products to use for cleaning it up abit?

Carefully bag or somehow seal electrics. Spray & brush with a good TFR or engine de-greaser. Power wash off then do it again until you get the results your looking for. When finished Wd all your electrical parts.

Did this at the weekend can of cheap degresser a paint brush and elbow grease then blasted it all off with my pressure washer.I always leave the car running when washing off and have never had any issuse's with the electric's as i have found most connectors on the Impreza are very water tight if you have a alarm make sure you cover it up as they do leak

I did my Turbo the same way

Argee with wez.
Exactly how I done mine.
Also a can of brake cleaner is good too. But only on bare ally i.e inlet.
Be carefull with some paint finishes as it can strip poor paint off.

you can mix this up as strong as you like and it dosen't leave any stains or residue, plus it'll last ages, but for an initial clean id get someone to give it a proper steam clean then its just maintaining the finish

i find any tyre dressing product works well on plastics,but check the bottle first.
Theres always the good ol "back to black" aswell

i wouldnt use back to black because its silicone based and although it leaves a nice wet look its very oily and it attracts the dust and dirt even more, once its dirty its even more of a nightmare to get off, its like trying to get grease off, most tyre products are the same but generally they tend to fade or wear off over time and thats mainly because their exposed to the weather.

Also some aerosol dressings can stain or warp plastic depending on whats in it, halfords own plastic care has been known to turn some plastic trim a cloudy grey colour

What to dress a Merc in would be a wet look hand bag with some spangly bits
