Default Seat rails

im in the process of finding some new seats for my wrx bug, not sure whether to go for the sti interior like everybody else does or get a pair of aftermarket bucket seats for the front, but what im wondering is, are the rails detachable from the wrx seats? or will they need cutting and welding on, or aftermarket rails bought?

Aftermarket rails I believe, would have thought the likes of Corbeau would be able to advise on what's available and if you nip to their factory you can probably try some for size before you buy.

STI is certainly the cheaper, easier option.

If you go with STI seats, try to find a set of the STI7 ones (bugeye). They got wider and less supportive through the newage years, the blob/hawk ones aren't as good.

The bugeye STI seats are the only ones with the diagonal stitches by your shoulders.... find a pair like these:

Only very early WRX seats have detachable seat rails. Later models with seat height adjustment had the adjustment mechanism and the rail integrated into one unit and the base frame of the seat.

If you can get hold of a very early set of rails these would be the best option to bolt up to an aftermarket seat and fit them onto the Subaru mountings. As all mounting points from 1993 to 2007 are the same.

I'm not sure what Corbeau seat rail/mounts look like these days but when I popped round there some years back they were a bit 'agricultural'

I didn't do it on mine but its more work that the 4 bolts per seat

Centre console out and the plastic side 'kick' trims on the sills under each door. There's a youtube vid here that i found:

Nah its pretty straightforward, if you've done it before it'll be a doddle.

Only potential troublesome issue might be breaking the clips on the sill trims during removal i guess...

STi carpet on newages was blue, apart from some of the limited edition models which had the grey carpets and seats - e.g. WR1, S203 etc.

So it could be from an STI but the same as your WRX.... I guess the seller just might not realise that when describing an item as 'sti carpet' everyone will assume blue.
