Default Very Old Photo

This is a picture of my Mum 8 yrs old (left) and her sister aged 6.

It's the only photo of them as children and it was taken 72 years ago.

Now scroll down

That's very impressive, is it done manually or does a programme do it at the click of a button? Sorry, don't know much about photo editing!

First job was to clone out the folds, creases and old marks.

I then made a duplicate in black & white then merged over the original at 72% so I could just see what to work on.

Much mapping was done to achieve realistic faded colouring to still achieve an old appearance.

I then needed to optimize the features of both faces and hands and re shade prominent features.

After that I had to re-shadow everything including much in the clothing.

Next was to trim a haze that was evident around all edge then blend to achieve a foreground / background depending on what part I was doing.

Reluctantly I would find it impossible to do commissions as it takes a huge amount of hours to achieve this finish from the original.
