Default Short Shift Kits - Good or Bad?

So as some of you may (or may not) know, my next planned mod for the car is (or possibly was) a short shift kit.

I have seen negative comments in the past with regards to short shift kits, but never from an authoritative source, so I've disregarded them. However I recently read a comment from Pfitzner (as in Pfitzner Performance Gearboxes) where they openly discouraged the use of short shift kits on street cars, due the increased load they apparently put on the gearbox.

I have discussed this with a few other members - most of whom have all had short throw kits without issue - but I just wondered if any of the specialists who post on here have an opinion of the short throw kits and if other forum members have had short throw kits fitted and had gearbox problems?

My 6 speed has a APi short shift modified system and I like it but the throw is bloody short and if I'm honest a bit notchy!
