All the usual stuff on my list, assuming the scoob is fine for the trip. Had it serviced today including gearbox/diff oil, geo tweaked, new front drop links as the old ones were duff and it feels much better on the front end, more responsive.

Only possible issue were the chunks of metal stuck to the gearbox drain magnet but the gearbox oil has done 30,000 miles/5 years. Could have happened last week, could have happened years ago. Not making any noises in any gears that are different to how its sounded forever so I'll be keeping an eye on it (or on the lookout for a replacement box...)

Service and maybe an oil cooler. Hopefully nothing else! Got to get Euro recovery and insurance also. Got a Euro Travel kit coming with all the necessary bits I need to drive through Europe. Thinks that's it, other than Euros of course. Actually flying to Nuremburg next Wednesday morning to watch United play Bayern Munich!

Thanks Ian, Liz`s mobility is improving but not sure if there are enough days left though?

As for H he is on standby, just have to book his days off and as I can do that for him it shouldn`t be a problem, just not sure about the sleeping arrangements or if the bed will be big enough?

I'm happy to make lots of stops on the journey down with you if that makes things easier and enables Liz to come along. It wouldn't be the same without her there!

Rear brakes are on my list now as my passenger side rear caliper has a sticky piston and the pad is dragging since Goodwood.

Refurb, brembos (bit of hassle with oversized handbrake shoes) or bigger brake kit.... ?

Your list is pretty similar to mine Steve. Need to pull my finger out. Also my other car has it's MOT tomorrow and know it's failed on a hydraulic pipe, just hope it's not too expensive to fix. Then the Scoob goes off to my bodyshop mate to fit new front poo guards and refit fog covers. Then i need to get it to SMD to get oil and filter changed and pray to god they don't find anything else that needs doing. Other than all that, I'm good to go.hahahaha.

Oh yeah, they both run out of tax at the end of the month....

Brakes - Done, refurbed calipers, braided lines and new pads.
Recovery - Done (Churchills with repatriation for £31)
Track Insurance (Need to see the forecast before I book a day)
Beam Deflectors and breathalysers - Ordered
Mount Fire Extinguisher - will probably go in a box in the boot
Euros - nearer the time
Then just wash it, inflate it, gas it, drive it

I'm getting my rear brakes sorted as the current WRX 2 pots have seized and aren't up to the job. Brembos going on, new discs/pads and bigger handbrake shoes to match the larger hub on the STI.

And then the car should be ready apart from a wash!

Your fuel would of started to go off by then, i suggest you go for a drive and use it up before hand and fill up just before you go, or i know someone who would be happy to take it for a spin for you and make sure your tyres are OK

Hope you've got some time off before we go! I'm off work on the Thursday 22nd if you need any help.

Concentrate on the most important mate. Don't need a radio, just a cigarette lighter to charge the satnav. Dent in door doesn't really matter. Maybe give SMD a bell if you need a hand - much quicker to do this stuff with a workshop and ramps!

cigarette lighter doesn't work as I used wiring for something else.

most of it will be done, I finally finished my over running contract today, so work starts in anger tomorrow, I have mates ramps and his help hopefully on Thursday evening, but SMD might have a call soon.

Lol, I've driven some supercharged ones and turbo is the way to go. 450bhp turbo kit is awesome and I can only compare it to my mates old 450bhp evo7.

One day it may happen, reason I'm taking golf is scoob ha a we problems at moment and I wanted to get golf up and running this year, Nurburg gives me the green light to do it. I love both cars and to be honest they are two completely different cars, I think compliment each other. Scoob will always be my serious track toy.

Glad the scoob is ok- worried for a while that you may have had a serious issue with it!

Errr, nothing like last minute but does anyone have a working set of single pot rear calipers?

That will teach me to check the pads on both sides and not just one and assume they'd both be the same

Late night in mates garage last night, think we finished at 10.30!
Bad evening, everything going wrong, couldn't press new poly bushes into wishbones and damaged them slightly, got them in in the end, they will have to do. Then steering rack bolts snapped, so had to drill out and retap.

Put everything back together then realise front arb was on upside down, doh, all off again to swap.

Feeling knackered today. But work must go on.
