In my opinion it's simple economics Scotty; supply and demand.

Why are VW Transporters so expensive compared to basically any other similar van? Because they have a bit of a cult following, bit of an enhanced image, so people want them... good job by the marketing bods!

That's what I think the P1 is a case of, personally. It's a UK car, so no perceived concerns of it being an import (that wouldn't worry me, I've had a JDM car for five and a half years now), it's got nice Prodrive bits and is a Prodrive developed car (enhanced image) and so people want them and actually, those are decent reasons.

However, if you have a different perspective, I can see why you would think they look a bit OTT on price.

Anywhere, there's my two penneth!

As above largely due to supply and demand, but have also noticed a Trend in general at the moment for anything that is perceived as a future collectors car, whether it be a 911, TVR, Elise etc, etc.

There is too much CASH in the system, i.e people with disposable cash in the bank that is earning them little or no money, and instead being 'invested' in perceived assets such as cars which is really driving up values across the board..

The government / elite want you to spend your cash on 'materialistic stuff' to keep the economy and wheels moving moving but people are getting wiser and holding onto money, and just looking at alternative ways to invest it, or put it into something that is considered 'Safe'.

Problem will when be the US dollar collapses, and the financial markets all come crashing down like a pack of cards and paper money has no value but that's as entirely different debate and far to heavy..

Back to hear and now - Type R's and STI5/6 will soon follow suit given time.

Dont think the facts/car spec really matter a great deal, was a limited edition,as you stated, the digits, simple as that, the all important limited number...rb320.. wr1.. cosworth. not everyone can have one due to limited numbers available drives price up the rarer they become.

I think there are two markets for the P1 -

1)folks in the know like us lot wot know things about scoobies -

2)the non forum un-scooby edumicated folks that just know about them from a uk market and watching Clarkson.

Therefore the market for a P1 would be wider. I agree materially no difference, and the body would be subject to less harsh winters etc in Japan.
