I'm glad (as a taxpayer at least) it went to the Russians.

The cost would have been well above the £1bn estimate (see the Olympics costs pre/post bid) and most of the profits will go to FIFA anyway from what I understand...

Russia have apparently set aside £120bn to set up the infrastructure to host it....

One less reason/excuse for our taxes to go up.....
