Default £300 ~ quoted to remove one broken bolt

£300 ~ I have been quoted to remove one broken bolt from my exhaust manifold, apparently it will entail a minimum of 2 hours work to remove the headers and get at the offending sheered off bolt.

Does this sound about right? I'd have thought that with the car up on a lift and all the pro kit it would take about an hour tops?

Back story:

My car is an Impreza GL (non turbo)

2 years or more ago when my borla replica unequal headers were fitted a stud / bolt was seized and it got snapped in the process of trying to free the old equal headers.

I believe the original gasket was reused with lashings of gasket paste for good measure. Last week for the first time in about 9 months I started the car up, and found it to now be blowing, the place i took it too today said yes there is one broken bolt, and another missing one.

Thing is, Hi-Q and RSR don't wanna know... I think i need somewhere local as driving it too far is risky to the engine? (and v embarrassing noise wise)

Time wise, i thonk 2hrs sounds about right (I'm about to undertake the same thing in a few weeks as ive got a snapped stud).
But, £300 is way over the top.
if you are at all mechanicaly minded, you could buy a stud extractor kit, and a drill, a drill bit, a replacememt stud and a pair of gaskets for way less than £300 and do it yourself !

mechanically minded, yes, physically capable nope. I'm a wheelchair user mate - they don't fit too well under cars without the need of an air ambulance afterwards lol

well i'm sure theres someone on here that would do it for far less than £300 for you !

if not, i'm due to do mine in 3 weeks. 2 weeks time n i'm doin coilovers. week after that n i'mn doin SS manifold and replacing a snapped stud. ive already ordered a set of 6 studs and bolts, even though only 1 of mine is snaped and needs replacing (just in case). Once i've done mine, if ive got studs spare (which no doubt I will) i'll quite happily do it for you for free. My house even has a disabled ramp so you can come in n hve a cup of tea with the mrs while your waiting. only thing you will need 2 get is the manifold gaskets & the up pipe one.

and i'm only about 20 minuites drive from wallington
