Default The Ra.

Thought id start a thread on the Ra, still awaiting the car to be registered, but all lock and loaded.
Plan is to keep near oem mint spec. Helps my wallet to lol.
The car is Version 5 sti type Ra,
DccD, Quick rack, roof flap etc etc,,
80,kmh and pretty stock.

The 1st thing to sort is remove the white alooys., and red mud flaps.
Put Oem gold 16s back on.
New boot decal and quick rack graphic too.
Gary has sorted insurance for me at awesome deal just need plates to finish off.
Sourced new set of genuine fog covers too.

2 weeks to go!

To be contiuned>>>>

Looks very tidy.

I hope you do keep it standard as I think that will make it quite a special car.

Keep it mint, stock, serviced apart from a perhaps a remap, and keep it 5-10 years and it will be a very special car worth 20K +.. Sound investment and nice car to own and enjoy in the meantime. Enjoy.

Made the trip over to see the car again and have another look and chat,
Fog covers in boot need to source some brackets now,
Orignal wheels going off to be refurbed and fresh rubber fitted after ,
So coming along slowly , cars all mot'ed and and services with belts too.
Couple pics from today-

Rang culverwells today, ordered fog cover brackets and screw was only £20 had to use a P1 reg of promo car as seemed to much hard work going threw my chassis code lol.
Import car parts are sending me a new Oem Type Ra decal as noticed mine isn't as spot on as thought. As looking a little weathered,

Don't ..... Lol the thought is bad enough . Got all three to swap now. It's bad enough getting it straight let alone putting it back in exact same place

Use a bit of masking tape to get you a straight edge

Cheers Guy's,
Few more bits arrived.
I noticed that the front plastic inner arch had neatly been trimmed a couple off mm to allow the Mud Flaps to sit flush, and as the flaps are not O.E "They gotta go!"
So ordered x2 new O.E inner arches and full fitting kit as no way i wont break one clip so replacing the lot!
Also the correct bolts and brackets to fit my fog covers.

Thanks buddy, just total different approach this time as allways modded them so returning one to original is really nice. Only trouble is I've found a sti cataluoge for gc8 and got me hunting.
Cars here now and the cleaning starts trouble is weather is so poor. Got my key cut and new sti tmic hose . Need to ditch the mud flaps but cars will be going away over winter so they can wait till then, would like it to be pro detailed soon not sure who local for that but will look about,

Don't mean to put a downer on things but maybe get it compression checked. My engine lasted a few months from sva. It was down on power from the start so had issues from the word go. The warranty I got was strip the engine down (which I didn't ask for) and refit the new one I supplied.

Looks good though and hopefully all will be OK.

That is a really clean car you've got, you would nearly think it had only just rolled off the production line. It's awesome as well that your going down the OEM route, as they can only get rarer.

Haven't posted in this thread yet but been watching with interest. As per other comments, its great that you're going for the OEM restoration route and it looks like you're doing a super job already.

Too many are modified these days and keeping this mint and original will only make the value go up. Top job

Do love a nice clean white classic. As with the above comments also, the OEM route your taking on this is very commendable. Should be great when you've finished.

Out of the 2 I would go with N888 WRC.

Im thinkin of selling one of mine soon though - SK03 BEE, but will need to get it off the car and sort the other one out first so its not available just yet.

why don't you just bin the two layer plates, and use the reg you've already paid for? on the rear a range rover HSE sized plate should fit the aperture perfectly though I opted to remove the jdm bracket

Just realised you couldnt put my plate on yours anyway due to it needing to be older than the vehicle youre applying to! Numpty moment...

P800 WRC would look good, but the 555 plates look good on a scoob too.

I have small front and oversized rear that fits the aperture. I can measure up if required as this was a custom size.

Queensway and Ridge West do have speed limits you know.
But I'll let you off, as you were probably going to the Conquest Hospital to see bubby......

p.s you need to lose the tacky red mud flaps.

See above configuration.
The rear seems to be the 'Jaguar' size of 520mm x 152mm and the front is 390mm x 84mm

Few more bits ordered and being shipped out from ICP,
Getting there slowly...

As fitting new 'Pink' Springs thought best to order new top mounts and decided on Grp n version.

Grp N Pitch mount

Rear Genuine anti roll bar links to match my sti trailing arms, *note uses front links instead of the horse shoe shape,

Right now this is the pain in being its a aftermarket item
My rear sti silencer is starting to look aged 17yrs old to be right, and bugs me, i couldn't find a classic fitment Prodrive silencer so i had to opt to using a non standard item as didn't want a newage with the hanger being wrong,
So after much looking around i went for the Haywood and Scott original back box which was as close to oem looking as possible and not OTT on noise.

The parts are starting to stack up for winter

Hi Scott not sure how they fit as I have the pink sti trailing arm set so it's just a direct swap as mine are a unknown age not that they look old but I'm anal lol so I thought best for revamp seeing as doing some suspension changes, il bring mine around at some point and you can have a look how they fit.

they do fit Scott Picture shown on import car parts you'll want to lose the old bracket though, so replace the arms? (although, we all know you would anyway)

Engineering Head on........Looking at how they mount via the outer/hub fixing isn't there a possibility they could rotate via pressure on the ARB and soften the effect of both the drop link and the ARB.

Yeh, I was looking at the other picture and wondering if the box section would do that.
Still a slight chance they would end up knocking due to a little flex/movement though.

Cheers Ron that makes total sense.
I'm running a 24mm ARB so may make mincemeat of the STi link box section.

Well no pics.
Picked the car back up from the importer's and my issue is still there, Slight Whine and vibration from the tranny area, had the rear diff rebuilt as was slightly noisy with this sorted the other noise was more noticeable,
The importer where good and said it could be returned for further work but as this is to far away to keep taking back etc I've decided to use my local subaru specialist who i cant praise enough hes had a butcher and believes center diff bearings are worn, So the box is needing to be removed and rebuilt so I've given the Green light to go ahead and do full box rebuild so i know its totally good, and the importer is backing me with parts so i really starting to see a positive with it all.
Had a nice comment from the Specialist telling me how clean this car is and a lovely Example,
I should have the car back today with all my new suspension bits fitted with 4 wheel Geo and rebooked for 1st week of jan for my box,
