Guys, I can't say that the meter I used is 100% correct but it is our work one and is calibrated once a year, i have checked it's cal due date which is September. As I've said before please don't get to anal about it, those that have the loud systems know they are too loud, I would suggest those who are unsure it would pay to get tested again somewhere.
My hks hyper was always between 107 and 109 db wherever I got it tested, which was much the same as using our work meter.

Yep, any SES members are welcome for the photoshoot. But you know you want to get a quieter backbox as well and get out in the sessions

i have a bung for it, but apparently its not a good idea to use it on hard driving as the build up of back pressure as its been mapped etc without it

We have now reached the Exclusivity cut off point for this and the session is now being opened up to the wider public.

If you do fancy this and have not already booked your slots, you may want to get a move on as the slots will go fairly quickly I think.

With regards to comments on it starting as a photoshoot and ending up as something completely different, sorry if thats upset anyone, but hey.... thats progress . We will be resurrecting the idea of the free photoshoot as we really want to have a website banner that represents the club.

But the Brands pics will be in a prominent position in the banner.

It will probably be at the the Surrey Scoobies meet venue as that has more than ample room and very nice surroundings.

I've booked the evening + 1st session.

Did assume the full evening would cover the SES sessions

£99 covers the evening, but as the SES session are exclusive ones they are an extra £25 each.

as far as i understand it, there are 8 sessions in the evening in total?

- the four taster sessions (which SES have two booked)
- the four evening sessions (are these separate so that more regular trackday goers are allowed?)

I just phoned Brands & paid for two sessions but then another guy from Brands phoned back and said I should not really be on track as it's a novice session and started asking a load of questions about my car??
He checked there system & saw I had been on track many times over the years but said he would let me off this time?

I never even realised it was a novice session?

Clive

It's one of the things that has been a casualty of the original list and final uptake. The idea was to get all of the novices out in one session and the quicker lads all out together for the last one.

But due to lack of uptake that's gone west unfortunately.

We will organise a Pukka SES Track Day in the very near future as there is the want to do so. Where we will have none of these restrictions at all.

But due to lack of numbers these 2 sessions are no longer exclusive to SES, so surely you should be allowed out in them aswell???

Lol, hey you just do your thing. A new guy on track is very evident to others anyway mate. Lines, track position, speed, early braking, on the brakes too long etc are al signs of track experience, so chill & enjoy

Dont forget tyre pressure want to be at 2.0 Br ! Chances are you will have more in them at mo.

I have received an e-mail from Nick this afternoon detailing what will be happening for the photoshoot part of the day.

Please see the below instructions on what time and where to be ready to go.

Hi Steve,

I am not in the office tomorrow or Monday morning so just giving you the details now for Monday afternoon.

For the photo shoot we will run as follows:

16:30 Arrive and park in the upper paddock (just past the Kentagon restaurant and through the gate).
16:45 All photo shoot drivers meet in the Kentagon where we will have a quick chat on how we will run the shoot
16:50 All photo shoot drivers will need to be in their vehicles ready to move from the upper paddock. Our instructor vehicle will come and collect them ready to lead across the circuit. Please do not move from the upper paddock until we tell you to do so.
17:00 Vehicles will be led onto circuit behind our instructor vehicle and will be brought round to the grid.
Our staff will line vehicles up on the grid positions.
Photo shoot can then take place.
17:15 Vehicles will be led back off of the circuit by our instructor vehicle.

When we have done this before for clubs we have done a shot with everyone in their vehicles, then everyone gets out and stands next to their vehicle, then people can get out and wander round the vehicles to take their own shots. If friends/relatives etc want to walk across the circuit with our staff to take their own shots this will also be OK.

Is this all OK with you? Is there anything else you need to know or would like to do on the evening?

are we going to have a few meeting places for the drive up or is everyone getting there at different times? Meeting places like PP and the place we used for the meet when we all went to Autotuner?

About 8 weeks ago I was tested at Brands at 105.0 Db !

I think I may accidently put my arm in the way of the rev counter, hit the launch control for about 15 seconds on level 9.
That way they may prove slightly deaf for a minute or two & I can hold the rpm at 3K

Thats fine the 1st session starts at 18.20.

29 or 30 PSI i think so slightly less than normal driving.

just had a look on the thread for this on Scoobynet (ESC section) and theres a couple more people on there saying they've booked up but don't know if they're doing one or two sessions yet.

But 1st session looks like 17 scoobs in that case

I will be one of the newbies on this track...I've done Silverstone gp twice, goodwood twice and Castle Coomb twice but never in a scoob so i will be staying out of trouble and not aiming to overcook it in anyway!

Nobody needs to worry about being a newbie, they're taster sessions so pretty much everyone out there should have no/limited experience

Ian you'll be fine mate. As for tyre pressures, I will drop mine a few psi then after about 5 laps come in and check pressures.20 minutes will be gone before you know it

Matt Clark has always told me to run tyre pressures @ 2.0 Br on track days (28lb).

I keep mine at 2.0Br all the time. Slide less and grip is heaps better than 30+.

i take it that's for a classic with 18's....what do you reckon a fat newage should be then? 29 or 30?

I bet.

I'm back on my 17"s as well, the older Pirelli PZeros on them only have 2-3 mm left so might as well use that up rather than the newer tyres on my 18"s!

Instructions are on the confirmation email, mind you it only wants one of us to know whats happening.

Dont forget your cameras,
Driving licences,
Bash hats,
Check you oil, water etc.,
Tyre pressures ( I have an electric air pump with gauge)
Toilet paper and plastic seat covers.

Is that 28 once on track and hot, or do you mean you set them to 28 cold.
I have been chatting to a guy on M3Net who races an M3 csl, he is running 19's and drops them to 26 when cold which under race conditions reads about 32 to 33

Hey, I am not saying everyone needs 2.0 Br on track.

As mentioned above I guess it would be a little higher for heavier cars and yes, it will depend on tyre sizes.

Crow: 28 cold mate.
I guess if you spoke to 100 guys who race the pressures would have a large scope. So many linked issues.

I still feel that lower pressures provide a better track balance. High pressures do make a huge difference regarding "turn ins" and powering out of tight corners.

Thanks Clive.
As you say large scope for people racing, type of tyres being used makes big diference.
Guy i was talking to uses cup tyres on his CSl and they are completely diferent.
.
Scott
Not out to set any records, cant afford to replace the M3 thats for bloomin sure. only i know from a fair few track days in the scoob that tyre pressure made such a diference, i got anal about it after a day at Bedford, car was ****e until a chat with a guy in a classic scoob, turned out i was running way too high pressures.
Having never run the M3 on track i'm after some feedback.

Might only do a few laps today, got to save the car for the Ring. And my new tyres will not be as scrubbed in as I would like. So if you see me pull off early, you'll know why.

Looking forward to a great day!!

I am in exactly the same position. Tyres only done 50 miles since I got them on. Might be a bit dodgy. But will get out there and get some piccies taken. So happy days.

Anyone seen the weather forecast for later.

Might be a bit damp. And they had the racing trucks going round there yesterday.

Should remain dry according to what I have seen, we will be unlucky to see a shower.
