I'll try and take some more pics tomorrow, but I'm in the process of fitting some KYB shocks and Eibachs which is a different story and proving to be a nightmare to change. But whilst doing this, I'm also have a good poke about to try and see if I can see whats been giving me a knocking noise..
I have lots o whiteline stuff and polybushes etc. But noticed my front roll bar, seems to slightly biased to one side which is causing the drop link to be forced over and making the roll bar in contact with the drop link when the wishbone is on full extent down. The other side doesn't do it. Might be numpty question, but can I just slacken off the roll bar clamps and slide it towards one side to equalise the distance, which should then hopefully stop the drop link from being forced over and making contact with the rollbar. Difficult to explain, but pic sort of shows whats going on. The drop links dont look right to me either ?. ![]() |

Should be able to slide it over a touch.
Just get the car up and level to take all the tension out of it. May be best to remove the ARB clamps as I expect the ARB will be stuck to the bushes so it won't move too easy unless you remove the clamps. What's the problem with the struts ?? |

Struggling to get struts out and in, But have finally got the old ones out with allot of swearing, but I can't get the wishbone to push down far enough or the strut to push up far enough for the bolt holes to line up, That's even when I have used spring compressors. My spring compressors seem to just get in the way of things which don't help. Feels like I need 3 pairs of hands, and like I am doing something silly. Can't recall it ever being so difficult. |

pic of the other side, which seems OK, compared to the other.

If you need a hand I could give you some time tomorrow.
Even if its just for a bit of extra muscle I also have a good jack.

Try adjusting the height the car is jacked, as this can normally help with alignment. Oh and a big screwdriver and a grunting Big'E' may assist too ![]() |

As Scott says Rob, sounds like your fighting against the ARB
I've never had problem , have just positioned top of strut up into position then use foot on hub to push down , slide bolts in and job done . Is it possible that side wishbone is bent , looking how the droplink sits. |

Thank all, and thanks Ian for offer of help. But had a fresh start with a fresh head, and very quickly come to the conclusion, I needed to undo the bottom drop link bolts to gain enough drop movement on the hub, once I done this no problems at all and didn't even need spring compressors. It also gave the oppertuntity to line up the roll bar better which has solved the drop link problem.
Rear shocks were fiddly and had to take out back seat to get to strut top bolts, and once again undo bottom drop link bolt to get enough movement. Had to move one of the top mounts oas one of my replacements was in the wrong position. Basically a full days graft, which I could probably do in half the time if I were to do it again. But very pleased with the results and car sits nice and squat and ride is much stiffer with the car now sitting very flat in the corners with handling miles better. Well worth the effort. Essential tools are a good breaker bar, quality 19mm sockets, hammer, couple of jacks, and my dremmel made light work of cutting the brakeline carrier. |

![]() ![]() Was initially using spring compressors with struts in situ to give me slack to then try and push strut up to line up bolt holes, but fast come to conclusion I was being a numpty and going about things all wrong. Live and learn... |
