Default Hi!

Hi Guys,

I thought id join up as i had been recomended this forum by a local mechanic a few months back but only just got around to joining up.

Ive currently got a X reg turbo 2000 in mica red, pruchased from a previous member on here i believe. ive owned the car for just under a year now and loved every second of ownership!

Currently on the look out for some suspention to replace the standard shocks and springs that are now incredibly soft and bouncy (and dangerous!) so if anybody has any recomendations, let me know.

The obligatory car picture....

Cheers
Pete

Welcome to SES Do like a mica red classic

If you want to replace your shocks/springs with similar similar but new (i.e. not go the coilover route) then take a look at the KYB catalog online.

Hi mate, the best Non-coilover setup are the Prodrive/Bilsteins. These come up every now and then on Ebay but I beleive at recent Prodrvie events they were selling off old stock for £250 a set. This is an absolute bargain, as they were over £1200 new.

May be worth calling Prodrive to see if they have any left. Jackie Irwin who was based in Banbury would be a good point of contact to start with.
If you mention us you may get a better response as I have delt with her several times and she is always very helpful and enthusiastic.

Thanks mate. ill give prodrive a call in the new year and see what they have to say.

Ive always been a bit sceptical of secondhand suspension as you cant guarantee how many miles they have done so they could end up as knackered as what ive already got!

They are new, unused shocks i believe - just cheap because Prodrive don't have an official supply chain for Subaru anymore through the dealers i think.

Having seen the set Silversurfer got, they're a bargain if you can find them.

So, i called prodrive yesterday to speak to somebody about the suspension. Got through to a lovely guy called Ken, he started telling me about his extensive knowledge of subarus (or lack of) then went on to tell me he is only the security guard as prodrive has shutdown for the xmas/new year break. maybe i should of been patient and called in the new year!!
