Smile New owner, but you may know the car

Hi all,

I wanted to introduce myself - I'm the new owner of Hongkongfooi's old Scooby. I'm aware I've 'inherited' something quite special here, so thought it would be good to sign up and stay in touch with the forum. The car is amazing, and I can confirm that Tim was nuts to sell it (I told him this before we agreed the sale!) however I will continue to lavish the care and attention it deserves.

There's very little I want to change with the car (the cracked carbon front lip will probably be replaced with a tougher PU item, and I may put some mudguards on as I plan to use the car year-round), but apart from that the car is very complete and I'm confident that everything has been done very well.

I live in the West Midlands, however Tim and Ron assure me the SES track days are good fun and good value so you may well see the car at a couple of these in future. I'll be going really slowly and letting you past - but apparently it was always so with this particular vehicle anyway

Luke

Welcome to SES Luke, and its great to see the car still on the forum. You are right, its a cracking car and really well sorted. I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as Tim did. Be good to see you/it at a track day too.

Welcome to SES, and yes - you've got a cracking scoob there. Great to hear that the car will continue to be looked after correctly in the future

I'm sure Tim would just say that he was being kind to the car rather than thrashing it

It is a great car, I nabbed a lift in it when we were in Germany last year and was really impressed.

Thanks for all the comments Yes, it really is impressive: it's very 'together' in every aspect, nothing is too extreme or compromised, yet the power delivery and the braking are nothing short of awesome. The Porsche brakes and Orangestuff pads have huge stopping power yet are progressive and not too 'bitey'; the power delivery is torquey from quite low revs as the GT30 builds boost relentlessly. For the first time ever I found myself thinking a gearbox could actually use longer ratios the delivery is that strong. Sadly work has intruded and I have only used the car for the long trip home from Sussex - I have to wait patiently for a bit until I can drive her again. I'm really looking forward to learning the ways of this car and using it both on track and on days out.

Hi Luke,

Great to see you on SES, shame I couldn't be there when you picked the car up. I was doing the same

As discussed, hope to see you on the 2014 SES nurburgring trip

You've brought a great car there, I too told Tim to keep it He's got a nice replacement now though so stop feeling upset for him and get on and enjoy the car

Luke's a top top bloke and the car has gone to a very good home which did make Tim feel a little better with letting it go.......

enjoy SES mate and enjoy the car

Ron if you had been there you wouldn't have got much sense out of me, I was basically grinning from ear to ear - once I got over the shock of using those mirrors for the first time! I hope you're enjoying yours as much!

Yes I definitely want to be on the Nurburgring trip (work schedule allowing), so I've started my research on northloop.co.uk and 'The Ring Zone' here on SES

Thanks for the welcome from all, it's appreciated
