Default Stupid quests...

Ok stupid question time - does anyone know what this is behind the grill? Oil cooler? I'm clueless!,

Also - the air duct under the bonnet that goes in the wing - what does that do?

Finally - why is this bit of plastic there as it covers nothing?

Thanks
Ryan

Air intake, there a resonator in the inner wing that ducts it back to the air box

There should be your BCS small solenoid with vac lines and electrical connector

As others have answered:

1.) Power steering fluid cooler, (nicer than the newer STI ones by the looks of it!)

2.) Air intake (into inner wing airbox, then to main airfilter, then air into your engine, via Turbo)

3.) The plastic cover covers your boost solenoid and the vac lines attached to it. + I believe to 2 wiring loom connectors. (this you can remove but it looks neater with it on.)

Really appreciate all the feedback guys...

However it gives me a little problem. Mishimoto sell a direct fit Oil cooler for the 2001-2006 STI and it sits exactly where the power steering fluid cooler is! When I emailed there tech guys, there 2003 STI didn't have that cooler?!?!?!? I thought about relocated the oil cooler, but the horns are in the way the other side, and the bracketry won't fit anywhere else..

Any suggestions?

And really must look for this boost solenoid thing ha ha - I am a newb so prob dont even know what Im looking at! ha ha

Looking at there website, it is probable that the power steering cooler sits on the other side of the car in a slightly different way on the LHD cars that they have obviously designed this for.

My Bugeye has the cooler in the same place as yours but doesn't have the fins on it. As I had to move mine slightly to mount Hella SuperTone horns I have just fitted.
