Bug STi Up Pipe
Quick question, how restrictive is the CAT in the up pipe of the Bugeye STi, engine is going in my brothers this weekend and it's the one thing that isn't being changed and it's going to be a bit tight to have one plus gaskets in time for Saturday. Thought we'd covered everything but forgot about that one.
Rocker cover gaskets, cam belt, plugs etc. all being done on the new engine before it goes in. If all goes to plan this weekend it should be on the road next week. Scott, when will your services be available? |

Bugeye STI's do not have a CAT in the up-pipe, only the WRX does..

Cheers guys, we weren't sure, I was finding conflicting information when I looked. As my brother is in Ascot and I'm in Hastings neither would have been near enough to collect but thanks anyway Chris.
Looks like he's all good to go then, new clutch and I believe crankshaft oil seal as well, seemed daft not to do them while the engine was sitting on the bench. Shane |

just for info the only cars to have the "pre-cat" are the 2.0 engined new-age WRX's
doesn't apply to the later 2.5 WRX, any STi's or the classics

Cheers guys was very busy on the drive last night removing parts etc from the engine bay before I remove the engine tomorrow. Once the engine is out I will confirm about the up pipe/cat I am sure you are all correct but looking from the top it does look like the pictures I have seen on the internet of the cat type. Any way thanks again will let you know after the weekend as I am going to be busy.
