Default Type C questions

Hi. As mentioned in another post I'm looking for a nice Impreza and have seen one in South Wales which is a Spec C Blobeye, spoke with the trader earlier and am going to see it tomorrow, was just have a look through eBay and have seen another spec C similar miles and price in Havant. Now the question I have is.

What colour of seat and carpet should they have in? The one in Wales is blue carpet and blue patches on seat, the one in Havant is black carpet and full black seats as per pictures below!

They also both appear to have different logos on the seats as well.

Also the blue one in Wales looks like it has no carpet or cover over the back of the seats, was this factory done as part of the weight saving measures or should it be there?

Thank you in advance for any answers or help.

I certainly don't know much - but I would say yes the weight saving from the factory would mean less carpet e.t.c.

personally I would go blue, with the genome pack

Oh yeah definitely the blue one, it's just the concern on the seats and carpets now, and how genuine it being a type c if it comes with black and black! Guess a sure fire way to tell would be to fill up the fuel tank as a spec c only has a 50 litre tank!

Feck off fecking white ya ****s if my memory serves me black interior carpet , black seats but no fecking carpet in the boot or sound deadening crap anywhere in the car and should have 12ltr intercooler spray tank in the boot mounted to the rear seat frame .

I thought the seats where wrong, but looking through auto trader and e bay lots of 'Spec C' advertised cars have the blue seats. Then I saw this one it's an RA as well cheaper and nearer to be by about 200 miles on the round trip!

And it's white scotty!

At first glance I'd say either the first two are genuine - Lot's of Spec C's had additional creature comforts put back in as options - The final white one has the S203 rear spoiler but I don't think is a genuine S203 or it would be a fair bit more! It does look a tidy car though.

I once bought a black carpet that came out of a Spec C, so don't rule it out on that. My non-Spec C JDM has blue carpets.

The first blue car has the blue carpets and seats which was the concern. The final white one with the s203 spoiler is been advertised as a spec c ra, would this be the correct OE spoiler for the ra? If it is an ra it's very cheap at that price and the dealer has experience in Japanese sports cars, mainly evos but should know what the Subaru is! If you click on the ad the interior has wind down Windows which would suggest the fact of weight saving, the dccd switch is in a different place to others I've seen, but this could be down to the fact it's a year older on a '03' plate not the '04' and '54's' I've seen!

I know with BMWs there is a website you can put the last 5 of the chassis number in and it tells you the complete factory build spec. Is there something comparable for Subaru, I've searched Google but can't find anything.

But the blue car is meant to be a spec c so should have the black carpet?!? No one would spec the factory genome pack and delete the black carpet and fit blue? Also I bet the black carpet is thinner and therefore weight saving!

If I'm correct the RA didn't have a spoiler!

Not sure about carpet colours in the Spec C's, sure i've seen both but you never know what has been changed with these cars over the years.

The blue seats with the yellow WRC logo are not from a Spec C unless there was some rare special order option i've not seen. They look to me like the seats out of the WRX300 special edition blobeye.

They have the same logo as the wrx300 but if you look at the brochure for the wrx300 the seat design is different.

http://www.subaru-impreza.org/downlo...eza-wrx300.pdf

Better picture of the seats (I hope) of the car in Wales with the rally team logo

Starting to think finding the right car and being 100% sure may be a little more interesting than first anticipated!

Yep you're right, the WRX300 had standard shape blob seats with a different graphic embroidered, but from the last pic of the car in Wales it looks like it has the same logo on the wider hawkeye seats. Strange...

I know. Well one way to find out, I'm going to look at it tomorrow. Is there any sure fire way to know if it's a Spec C (apart from only being able to get 50 litres of fuel in) stickers can be brought, roof hatches cut in, boot carpets removed etc etc.

Found this vin decoder for Subarus, I will check it when I get there, or ask them for the vin number before I leave, but haven't got a Subaru vin number to try if it works, also may only work on certain country cars ie not JDM ones!

If I remember correctly there is a "wr" 2004 spec c with blue seats, a "basic/motorsport" spec c with grey seats small brakes and 16" wheels, and also spec c limited if you have the vin plate look here..http://www.type-ra.com/subaru-forum/

There is one way to found but the problem is the TMIC is in the road as the engine has the part number stamped at the bell housing and also there should a serial number at the back top right of the block that should tell you exactly what engine is in there hope that helps .

That's the one!! It came from the factory with the genome pack which includes the gauges, so would it be worth changing the exhaust? Also it's a completely stock Spec C WR LIMITED would it be bad news to change anything like turbo etc. What do you think of it? It looks mint in the metal!

Probably the wrong person to ask but I'd keep it as standard as possible.... That's where the money lies for future markets....

The genome exhaust sell for good money and quite a few in the past have been sold on....... Me, I'd keep it on it, at worst change the exhaust but keep hold of the genome......

Just the wheels I'm not keen on, but again it's a personal choice....... Best thing would be to view in person..... Good luck with whatever way you go...

I'm leaning towards keeping it standard myself now! The initial plan was to get a Widetrack JDM and change the usual bits, now a spec c is a bit special and maybe shouldn't be tampered with. The good news is............ For me anyway is deposit has been left.

they look like wrx 300 seats with the bases from a sti blob - my wrx 300 seat bases foam was gone and a bar stuck in my leg after a while , i bought some sti seats to swap the bases but when i did the blue/black areas where about 5mm out from ligning up perfectly and didnt look right to me so i just used the sti seats whole - hard to see from the fotos as angles are decieving but those seats look slightly bitsa !

They are the correct seats for a spec c WR limited. The car came with the world rally team logo on the seats and also the fog light covers as per this brochure. Slightly confusing that the pic at the top as a wrx 300 in it as well as the spec c!
