Default Wales Rally GB 2010 - Photos

Time for another one of my rally photo threads (yes, you'll be please to know it'll be the last one of 2010!)

Four days in Wales, some beautiful weather on the Saturday and some shocking wind and rain on the Friday.

Jay - sorry i didn't get the chance to meet up - would have joined you at Dixies but would have had to walk about 3 miles by the time i got there!

Starting on Friday, spent the day on Myherin. Got there via the Elan Valley pass - what a road! Wished i was in the scoob! Didn't stop to take any photos of the scenery as we were running late, but it was cool stuff. Anyway, photos from Myherin's first stage.....

And then we wandered around for somewhere to watch the second run - walked up to a massive wind farm but the rain was falling by that point and it was rather open and exposed. Back under the trees it was!

And yes, i got soaked through!

Saturday's weather was much brighter. Had planned to watch from Dixies on Halfway but once we got through the ticket check we realised how crammed it was and bailed out. Went to the other car park and a quiet spot i've been to loads before - there were less than 10 cars parked up so an easy walk into the stage

Got to watch both runs of the WRC entry, plus the National B event - a 65 car rally of anything from scoobs to mk2 escorts and more. Made it a entertaining day!

The second WRC stage of the day didn't start until 4:30pm, so it was pretty dark out in the forests.

Sunday to follow.

Sunday was spent out on Resolfen. The main spectator viewing area was pretty crap to be honest, so we walked for a couple of miles and found a lovely combination of a hairpin and 2 tight corners. Was definately the best viewing spot we found all rally and i was chuffed with some of the photos.

Another great set of pictures mate. I think those shots from the Saturday morning are my faves, some of those shots of the cars cornering are superb!

Roll on 2011 for more rallying!

Yep, the S2000 Fiestas looked really quick and agile. Hopefully next years 1.6 turbo version will be quick too!

Monday 3rd January - Rallycross Masters, Lydden Hill (not many details yet and I know its not actual rallying, but its a start!)
Sunday 30th January - Essex Stages, Brands Hatch (TBC)

Lydden should be a laugh that early in the year. Don't forget your thermals...

Come on, you're a rally fan, the cold isn't an issue...

...I went there for Winter Rallycross a couple of years ago and there was a blizzard in the middle of the day. I don't think I've ever been so cold watching motorsport - they still carried on racing though!
