Default looking at car with "missfire"!!

Hello everyone, I need some info....
My otherhalf is looking at a
Standard turbo 2000 saloon, on a 2000 plate.
It has a slite misfire:0(
It's in Bedford and is a long way to go ,so was wondering if anyone could help with diagnosing what it could be,
Things that Lee could look for when viewing it..... Seriously any help will be grateful....
Xx

Not trying to tell you how to suck eggs or anything but if it was a simple fix, why wouldn't the owner get it done knowing that something like that would reflect in a negative manor on what they could ask for the car? Just a thought.

as above i would be extremely careful buying a car with a fault, may be as easy as wrong/incorrectly gapped/old plugs or could actually have a melted piston!!

As above and above, maybe the owner has had fault diagnosed and has decided to move on whist still running.

Long way to go for a car with a known problem. Missfire is probably nothing much to sort out, but unless your getting the car for a song I wouldn't be taking the gamble personally.

p.s Not sure on your budget, but I know of 2 good fair priced examples of Mica blue MY99/00 UK saloons for sale that are more local than Bradford.

Rob has a scoob with a mis-fire that we never did get to the bottom of.
Probably as Alyn said, had a melted piston.

Totally standard apart from Prodrive backbox, Mica blue saloon in great condition no dinks, no rust, only a minor scuff on rear quarter of bumper, 2 new front tyres, interior VGC. 127K miles but with allot of service history, and feels very tight with no knocks or rattles. Clutch is high on its bitting point and will need a new clutch fairly soon, but would come with a good second hand clutch plate. This would be going for about £1700 with a private plate. The seller is a collegue of mine, and is a car I used to own, and would need to check if its still for sale as he was unsure at the time.

And know of another nothing to do with me thats for sale for £2000 again same as above, and very tidy and genuine but with 97K miles.

p.s Neither of these are the ones that Scott mentions. Can't vouch for the second one, but do know the first one to be a good straight honest car.

pics of the first one I described when I owned it:
