No it won't pass an MOT without the cat's.
On the WRX there are 3 cats, up, down and front centre pipe.
If you still have the front centre cat in place it may just get through if you make sure the cat is nice and hot.

If a cat was fitted as standard then it must be present at time of test regardless of emissions!

If that's the new regulation, is evey MOT tester really clued up on what's a cat and what's a heat shield protected silencer and where all the cat's are on evey car.

As we know some scoobies have up-pipe cat whereas a different model but the same year (i.e an STi ) does not.

What if it's a 99 PPP, is the MOT tester aware that Prodrive removed the centre cat, after it's 1st registration date.

i'm not sure the test is that bothered if it has 1 cat or 27..............

the reg is more about not being able to "tune" a pass without a catalyst present at all.......
