Default Turbo advice TD05 20g on 2.5 STI

Hi,

I'm after some advice on whether a TD05 20g (Andy Forest turbo) would be a worthwhile upgrade with associated remap on my STI.

Car is a 2006 STI, forged engine (pistons) from Dan at Surrey Subaru Specialists plus upgraded gaskets, bearings etc. Got an uprated panel filter and Perrin intake hose, 2nd decat, standard bore de-resonated centre section and prodrive back box.

Can anyone have a guess at what bhp/torque I could reach on this set up, and whether there would be anything (fuel pump, downpipe) that would deemed as essentials other than the obvious remap.

Cheers,

Andy

20g works well on the 2.5 and good bang for buck.

do downpipe as cat would be big restriction prodrive bb is also quite restrictive a full 3" system would be best. expect to see near 380/400

I had the same set up on my bug. A good combo at the time.

done a lot of customer cars like this and (without cat) you will see useable spool from around 2K (or just under!!) and full boost before 3K on most of our set-ups........

like a very fast Turbo Diesel

should have added if your looking to keep the cat you will be better off with a Prodrive 'sports' cat IMO

Don't think prodrive fitted a different downpipe on MY06, and think I'm right in thinking (!) the joint at the bottom of the downpipe is different from earlier newage cars so would require both downpipe and 2nd decat from earlier newage - I think!

Anyone have an idea on the difference in bhp between decat downpipe and standard (apparently cat on MY06 was less restrictive than earlier newage).

Thanks guys - the turbo is on it's way!

no the PPP kit for the 2.5's didn't have a sports cat BUT the earlier ones fit from my experience - only issue is you have to trim the "splitter" slightly due to the differing turbo exhaust housing
