Default Toyo R888

Looking to get some tyres for project 'Ring' and was looking to get the above. What are people's experience with them? What are they like when you do have to use them in the wet?
Thanks!

I have only done about 150 miles with mine they are awesome in the dry, although Ive not pushed hard as you cant on public roads.

I shall be defo taking on next years German trip.

I do know of peeps that say they good in the wet but they don't like standing water.

Sunday never mind 888s a boat would have been more appropriate.

I unfortunately got called out to Bexhill seafront right in the middle of all the weather, even the seagulls were grounded, the firms transit coped very well though.

I think, and i could be wrong, they were supposed to be illegal Nov this year. Not sure if that's still the case or not.

I'm looking at Toyo R1R's as an option, they are inbetween the R888's and the T1R's

Thanks Gary. If i understand it you can still use them - it is just you may not be able to buy them. The level of noise they produce may mean than they do not meet the EU requirements. These requirements will get stricter between 2012 to 2016 with manufacturers having to make quieter and more efficient tyres. All tyres have to meet the minimum EU standards and suppliers cannot sell them if they do not have the appropriate labels. No doubt alot of tyres will have f all grip!

Thats my understanding anyway - im happy to be corrected!

My understanding is that if you own an existing set of R888's, it will be legal to use them on the road. From Nov this year, they will not be able to be E-marked any more as they will fail both noise and wet braking tests (even if they offer bonkers grip in the dry). Hence they will disappear....

So if you want road legal track tyres you need to buy them soon i guess. Gary, i reckon the R1R will be fine to buy after November as Toyo state that theyre quiet and give good wet performance too.
