Not the best attempt to hide the number plate.

Innocent until proven guilty, but to do that damage certainly implies the driver wasn't being all that careful.

Hope the old fellow is alright. Sounds very unpleasant.

I would expect similar damage around 30mph?? seems to be a lot of the road taped off though...
