Yes, Steve. The route Greg posted is the one with fewer road works. There should be only about two but with two lane traffic.

Good stuff Kerstin.

We will go with Gregs route for sure then.

Martyn is going to use that route when he goes next week and will report back.

Great, Steve. Although it will be definitely busier when you lot come over in two weeks time as everyone will be heading home for a long weekend. But this goes for any route.

I hope not as ill have to travel with the flea bitten, spotty germ catching git the week after !

Mind you the farts are going to be even worse so perhaps the fleas and the pox doesnt sound so bad after all.

I could use the live fleas in a match box as i sign for the silent death gas he may leak like they did in the mines using the canarys in the bird cage's.

Lovely yesterday , wet today , does that match the forecast that you guys are looking at .

Was working out travel time last night , it took exactly 4 hours from Calais to the grand prix circuit paddock .
We didn't stop and made use of the unrestricted parts .

That's good going mate, but I take it that was in a diesel.

I can't see many scoobs lasting 4 hours inc derestricted section without a fill up.

Just a quick heads up regarding the insurance which you may want to check. I have a policy with additional track cover. I was speaking to my insurer and they advised that the Nurburgring nordschleife is not classified as a track but a closed road and is therefore excluded from most policies and many specific track policies. I'm now looking to get the cover, but thought I should highlight the issue so you could check. In the worst case scenario I didn't want anyone not to be covered after I was told about the issue.

If you have arranged with Gary I'm sure he would have made sure you're covered, but it could be worth checking if you're not.

After years of getting "Insurance" for this trip, I have not bothered this year. There are so many caveats involved with the Nurburgring Nordschleife (Toll Road, One Way Road, etc etc) that 99% of insurance will get out of paying up. If you could get a 100% cast iron policy, I would take it out. But the levels of small print bull**** puts me off the idea these days.

I expect you could get proper 100% cover for the Nurburgring GP circuit, as you can with the tracks we do over here, but the Nordschleife is a whole different bag of tricks.

This is where IMHO The German authorities have got this wrong. The whole world KNOWS that the Nordschleife IS a track, car companies worldwide use it as a testing facility, they even have "closed track trackdays" there. But still, we the public are left to struggle to do the right thing by not being able to insure our vehicles for going round there.

I can't see that it would ever change, which is both blinkered and stupid.

Have to agree Steve.

Its all so the Germans can be fully covered on standard policies - if they didn't have Touristenfahrten cover included in their normal policies, the GmBH would lose out on a shedload of income - because a lot of the Germans would stop using it. Its all about the cash it generates (which they can waste on pointless projects like NuroDisney).

Am back home early as phils 430 scud retired , very bad weekend for the team , gear select issues throught the weekend , the team removed and stripped box down over night last night , box fine up on its air jacks , lasted 1 lap of the final

Still an amazing weekend , spoilt the whole time .

We pulled out of a car park opposite the GP circuit at 11.15 German time and I walked through my door at 17.30 .

Took 4.5 hrs from GP circuit to tunnel on way back .

I spoke to Phil the owner and driver of the scud about his route and he came via Brussels on way down and I suggested his route back via Antwerpe , spoke to him this evening and it saved him just over an hour going home via Antwerp .

Dunkirke to Antwerpe then pick up E313 , onto the A4 then onto the 61 .
I counted I think 6 spread cameras which were early into the journey , we also passed at least 5 shell garages . The A4 and 61 are both long straight motorways , the 61 had unrestricted sections . There were the concrete stretches, not sure if they will be as bad as the other route for noise as we were in comfy car

This new route is no where near as scenic and pretty as the usual route , but is quicker based on our journeys this week .

The other point to remember is we did not hang around, making very good use of the unrestricted bits.

Not looking good for me Eighther. A family member has just died & the funeral may fall at the same time as the trip. My shotgun Ash hasn't recived his passport yet. He's waited for over a month. No news on the Evo yet Eighther. All these things are doing my head In to be honest.
