Good news, we were starting to look a bit thin on the ground for a moment!

And Nige, i'm sure Joe will be well chuffed with that pic on here, just needs some heels and a handbag to go with those tights and that dress

Nige, it's great that you two are coming down to Germany.

Me and Martyn will make sure we have and extra cold one waiting for you both on arrival. And if Joe can't drink, have two!

I have a question for you guys that have been before.
I've been watching many onboard clips lately and regarding that very long straight do any of you hit the limiter in top gear ?

I have a good mate with a P1 who has been to The Ring 3 times and he was hitting the limiter running a 5 speed.

I was trying to work out the length of that straight & compare it to the straight on the MLR 30 - 130 at RAF Marham.

If the straight is 1.3 miles or longer I will be maxing out at 196 mph which is the speed I would have been doing at RAF Marham if it were 0.4 of a mile longer (taking into consideration the braking distance of 0.25 of a mile).

I will need to check tyre ratings.

Clive, the one thing to take into account is the fact that you are dragged off half way down the straight on the public sessions. So you don't get the full straight.

I will post the very last bit of my 1 lap in 2 years (yes you did read that right ) which shows how much room there is before you are coming off.

Yep, what worzel said. If you watch touristfahrten vids on youtube, you will see the entry/exit point to the pits/car park area is halfway along the straight. I doubt you'll be anywhere near the limiter as a result, even with your car being the monster than it is!

Its only closed trackdays and race events that use the straight in full, as the race pits is slightly further up the circuit.

If you were going to "time yourself" you do it from Bridge to Gantry. The bridge is about 1/4 of a mile after coming out of the carpark, the Gantry is in the video below and it at the start of the straight.

In the dry, you will indeed get a fair old lick going quite quickly Clive, but you would probably run out of space before running out of puff.

At the end of the video, you will just start to see the cones appearing on the left hand side that marshall you back in.

Clive after the gantry most people ease off.

To let things cool down as has been said before you have to leave the road and go back though the entry barriers for another lap.

This video is one of the best Ive seen. :

This also shows the start finist points. The Bilstein bridge to the gantry at the start of the long warm down straight.

On public days there is a speed limit after the gantry i think its 60KPH also at Breidscheid.
I have known people get fined and have their cards confiscated for exceeding these.
On a public day there are two fast areas one between Flugplatz and Schwedenkreuz which is downhill and the other from Bergwerk to Klostertal which is longer but largely uphill, both of which should not exceed more than about 170MPH if you can find a gap in the traffic.

Nice vid Big E.

Is it a general rule of thumb to pull over to the right to allow for the likes of bikes & local drivers to overtake on the left ? or is it the case that bikes will overtake you on either side ?

I'm surprised at the lack of bend markers, mind you I guess that's down to the ring not being a recognised "race track" ??

What is the procedure in the event of say a car losing it, crashing into the armco and spinning back onto the track on the blind side of a crest ??

Do we have any warnings ? ie are there any form of marshals ? and how do the ring staff know when an accident has happened ??

Okay thanks for that Slayer.

I need to learn these German names regarding bends etc.

I still can't believe they allow bikes, Porsche's, Minibuses & the likes of Wolfgang Von Kreamies Milk Floats in the circuit at the same time ?????
LOL that's mad

1 Overtake on the left only, if bikes are passing you your going too slow

2 The procedure is avoid hitting it at all cost. Most people that stop to help usually become the next accident. Unless the car is upside down or on fire you are probably best carrying on and informing the staff asap

3 There are marshalls and there is an emergency phone number to call, store it in your phone before you go through the barriers.

I was going to go up to RCM next Tue to have the new EXE dampers fitted but my mate has his 22B up there having a refresh & that will be ready Thu, so I am taking him up to RCM and the dampers will be replaced then.
Would be dangerous using current set up at The Ring as the rear of the car has more movement than Fred Astaire with these temporary dampers..

What Rob doesn't know yet is that Olly Clark phoned me last night to tell me that when you now lift the bonnet the complete engine bay looks like it's just come out the box. Rob wanted them to make it look like new again.

He's using the 22B for a few weeks then it going back up there for a proper shell respray using the coachworks company that sprayed all Subura WRC cars & The Gobbstopper.
It should then look mint.

Last year there was a 8/10 car pile up due to being on a blind left & lack of warning that cars had crashed due to not enough marshals. Plenty of cars crash or get crashed in to the trick is make sure its not yourself. You pay your money, They dont check your licence, insurance, tax, mot, tyres or car. There not bothered they now have your money! Go kill yourself they expect & normaly get a few dead one's over the weekend! I really hope they dont change a thing it's FANTASTIC as it's well worth the risk.

Nothing lasts forever mate.

The rear dampers had split the top seals and was losing oil. Had new seals fitted and refilled.

Your correct, when mods reach a certain level it becomes an ongoing process keeping things optimum

As good as the German beer is, the Belgians are better. I'd recommend La Chouffe if you find it

Is Big E a secret agent working for the Ministry of Defense ? or does he not pay his bills

Ive tried his home Nr 3 times and every time I get a beep beep and his mobile just keeps saying "we cannot connect you please try later".

I've checked all threads to see if he had died, but all looks cool

We had a job in Northern Ireland and needed to make 12 ferry crossings from Hollyhead.

The first trip was so bad that EVERY wc on the ferry was shut due to floors covered in vomit.
Kids were screaming and all you heard were things smashing everywhere.

The duty free section was closed and looked like a war zone as many complete shelving displays were laying on the floor with glass & drink everywhere.

None of the guys wanted to catch the ferry again so we used that huge Swedish Ferry that runs on two massive blades and was jet powered.
That thing was awesome !! so we used it for the next 11 crossings.

It totally amazed me the angles that a ferry can lean at. Several times I was pretty convinced the thing was going to go over.

Agreed, first time i went to Germany the ferry had to make a sharp turn due to something? in the the channel and the angle it went at was (or so it seemed), expected to find all the cars resting against each other lol
