If you can get behind Sabine your better off haveing sex with her rather than trying to stay with her in your car. She's so fast.

You need to book in advance.

http://bmw-motorsport.com/ms/en/fascina ... limit.html

It's €195 for the car (3 passengers). I believe you buy your ticket then you have to book a slot rather being assigned a time when you book.

Sabine does the occasional Sunday in the Ring Taxi. The laps quick but aren't that fast, they go round in 8:00-8:30 depending on traffic so there are faster cars/bikes going round but it's more the experience you pay for.

Are you going to be there when we come over? If so, I'll get you a "ring hog" sticker made.

It's looking likely. Depends on whether my mate goes out that weekend as I'll get a lift over with him and use it as an opportunity to bring my car back to the UK as there is a trackday on the 7th June.

My mate is up for the weekend so I'll either be getting a lift over with him Friday night or driving my own car if I bring my car back after the N24 on the Monday 25th May (although seem pointless if I'm back out 4 days later on the Friday). We will probably on a late Norfolkline ferry. Not sure when I'm heading home though, depends on work.

I have to apologise as I didn't get a chance to take the photos to show you where the viewing area are but if there's time I can give you a quick tour of them.

Possiblity that its burning rich due to now having a de-cat system? does un burnt fuel burn blue?

Unburnt fuel normally burns black, blue smoke is oil, i wouldn't of thought that they will be able to give you a definate answer as to what it is, it could be anyone of four things really - valve stem oil seals/ turbo seals/ piston rings or head gasket....hope its not to major (excuse the pun)

Sorry to here that mate, but keep a close eye on it over the next week. And check the oil levels.
As Rich said it could be a number of things or it could be nothing, just don't let them pull it apart chasing a fault that isn't really there then charging you the labour.

You can probably tell I don't trust anyone unless I can se the faulty item myself, and certainly not main dealers at dealer labour rates. This isn't aimed at gatwick directly, just my experience of dealers regardless of manufacturer.

Wouldn't Walldonway be more conveinient for you ?

Yeah i know what you mean on labour rates but i dont have the knowledge to know what im looking for or anyone who could strip it privately and say yeah its this or that by the 29th!!!!!!!!!
The problem with my scoob is that its used every day by the missus so i only have the weekend to work on it and get it back in order by monday so beck can use it.
They said they will pressure test it for oil seals but only time will tell. Using a main dealer means though that if the problem continues i can just keep throwing it back at them till its sorted.
And as regards to using gatwick instead of walldenway, well i work in gatwick airport so i can pop in and keep an eye on whats happening or maybe not!!!

I dont think he would, worzel recommends him! It was such a good meet with lovely weather but am so annoyed by this little prob, kinda fed up.
Still up for the re-map scott on the 16th, oh and thanks for the quick flash to get rid of the CEL light.

Im a little conserned about Phill & his type R civic. Now some of you where driving your Subaru's quite fast on geo day. If this continues abroad i dont think he will keep up. For this reason our next meet should be at Honda GB so we can all buy type R's !!! Its only fair......... Phill has his car in for a service & a tune. New 4 branch ex/ maniold & rear box.

Don't worry matey, there'll be no ragging off when we are in convoy abroad.

Plus the fact we'll only draw attention to ourselves eventually and get nicked, which I don't fancy at all.

Most do take card payment.

But you can be riped off with the exchange rates.

I shall be taking euros.

I always take my card as back up.

The balance for the hotel, as far as I can see, was to be paid when there.

Most garages take cards, debit, credit or switch - you will be charged the current exchange rates by your bank plus any charges they feel on top.

No probs last year with the normal type fuel pumps. There are auto pumps far to complicated for me though.

Having been fined €175 for speeding in Belgium and know someone who was fined €990 for speeding in Germany I've kept an eye on my speed. There are also speed cameras on the E40 in Belgium.

Everywhere takes card, you just sign for it instead of 'chip and pin' unless you have a foreign bank account.

my tom tom worked a treat on our last trip to france and belgium picked up speed cameras. I have down loaded the latest updates also. Having radios was key to the last trip. I suggest one per car. I have a pair. We had the odd little blast on suitable roads. The great thing about this trip is we have a nice long cruise down and when we get there we can use our cars the way they were designed to be used. Who could ask for more. I feel like a kid waiting for christmas.

rich. I am sure your car will get sorted mate. As scott said dont let them go stripping down in search of problem. What i have done in the past is asked for full diagnoses report and a quote to rectify the problem. Good luck mate.

Well i have managed to get work at gatwick instead of heathrow so ill be close by. Im dropping it off on sunday and will ask them for a call from the workshop guys before they start , if they find anything and before they replace anything just in case it is a turbo problem them ill source one myself at a better price!
Gonna pop in and take a look if they phone me just to check what there doing but i dont think thell rip me off, but you never know with main dealers!
Im due a cam belt service so if they do pull it apart then they can do that at the same time.
im sure its gonna be ok and its not to bad but ill catch the problem before it gets worse

Hand Sets - would it not be a better idea to get 10 of these which could communicate with each other?

10 x Motorola GP340 c/w battery, aerial, belt clip and programmed as required @ £4.25 each per week
1 x 6 way multi charger @ no extra charge
5 x spare batteries @ no extra charge

I dont know if these would be of interest? they would work in Europe

Get them if you wish as £4.25 is hardly going to brake the bank.

I do how ever already have some.

What would be good is some with a longer range say 10 miles,

so that we know where people are, for safety on the RING.

Also so we know how far Silver surfer is behind.

Hi there as mentioned earlier in the posts i am now tagging along with scott. I will try to make the meet on the 23rd just to say hello again. I have a guide/track rules booklet from last year so will bring it with me to the meet. Might be helpful?
Hopefully see you soon

£92 In their defence when I split my turbo up-pipe the other year they had me recovered within the hour. The girl on the phone did chuckle when I told her where I was

It's a bit of hassle but I'd recommend ADAC cover. It's the German equivilent to the The AA only much much larger. I have their European policy which covers me anywhere in Europe for €79 with better benefits that AA European cover. ADAC is also the only company that will recover you from the track if anything happens otherwise it's a €200 recovery fee even if you breakdown/run out of fuel.

As for breaking down in the UK; they speak English and ADAC sub-contract the work to The AA.

Whats the best way to get ADAC cover, as the website is all German.
I need to renew 2nd week of June, so may aswell switch to ADAC a bit early.

cheers

BP petrol station in Dover is a good place to meet. If you all fill your petrol tanks up this saves multiple stops the other side and petrol is cheaper in the UK

Good point Mark.

Mine is mapped for V Power though, so need to find a Shell in Dover.

One quick question, with regards V Power, when we were in france just before Christmas, it was 98ron as opposed to 99ron here. Is that the same in Germany?

Also, I take it there is a shell garage or two around and about the ring?

Cheers!

Not sure where the nearest Shell petrol station is to Dover, maybe a Tescos with 99 is nearer?

No Shell garages near the Ring, well less than 20 miles away.

2 petrol stations nearby. 98 is available at the ED petrol station which is the closest and 100 at the Aral petrol station in Adenau. I run mine mainly on 98 as it is €1.20 compared to the €1.30 the 100.

I filled up with V-Power in Belgium once... it was 95

I have never filled up with V-Power in Germany however I believe it's 100.

I'm at the Nurburgring 24hr race from Wednesday 20th - Monday 25th May. Dependant on work I may just stay out in Germany and see you lot on the Friday otherwise I'll get a lift over Friday night with my mate. It's handy having a car in Germany

I'll get a mate in Germany to book a table at the PK for you. Please PM with numbers, date and time.

It's not a trackday when open to the public, it become a public road. A trackday policy will unlikely have the 3rd party liability required by German law. Most people take their chances and drive without insurance but be aware of the financial consequences if you do.

I, like 90% of everyone, just use the 98ron from ED petrol station next to the Dottinger Hohe straight. I occasionally fill up with 100ron from Aral in Adenau when heading to the track in the morning or joining the track at the Breidscheid entrance.

I want to get to T Wells tomorrow if I can and pick up some Millers. Just to be sure.

I am going to go for the insurance that Rich found (morris's) £250.00 for the weekend will give me good peace of mind.

Bob won't of mapped your car that close to the edge for 99RON. 98 will be fine, I can always run the lappy for a lap to check yout timing advance.

Beside SRR made a comment to me that Bob always maps mega save on timing anyway...

Majorscooby

Just a thought, Worzel and Crowman will be traveling via:

A22/M25/M26 then onto the M20 you could meet @ Maidstone Services in between Jnc 7 & 8.

Then you could meet up with us Maccy Ds. Ashford.

Just off of junction 10 there is a Tesco's petrol station.

Just to throw another spanner in the works, my folks are coming down on Thursday 20th for the bank holiday weekend. So mapping time will be v.limited. if at all.

I also need to finish the decking in time for their arrival
And also sort a few bits on my motor i.e cold air feed and some handling goodies I have coming

Just sorted me breakdown cover.
went with http://www.morethan.co.uk £88 or £7 a month for european cover.
they may not recover from the ring, but will at least get me home and at £7 per month won't even notice it.
AA/RAC wanted about another £40-£50 for the same cover.

My UK renewal was £40 and just to cover for europe for 3 days (most do single trip policy),was around £40, so hasn't cost me much more for 12 months.

Hi,new to this site and been reading the thread. As i'am mainly in France I have some info that may help.Don't speed on French Motorways. In the last year the have started a big crackdown and fines are very heavy, they will even confiscate your car if your well over the limit. If you have a radar detector in your car leave it at home.In France they will confiscate the unit and also give you a large on the spot fine.If you have a E11 take it with you,if the worst happens and you end up in A&E you must present this card which will cover about 75% of costs. If its a private A&E you will be axpected to pay all charges and then claim back when you return to the UK.Good news is treatment in French hospitals is Excellent as I know only to well.Hope some of this helps, have a good trip!
Bon route,Terry
