Well we are not going with you Guys, so I hope we find germany! I know we get off the boat and turn right for more france, and then when we have found Reims, we turn left.

My Navigating Officer will need details of the hotel to plug into her map finger, Mr Worzel. Will get these on Friday?

Won't be getting to the ring until the Friday afternoon/evening - will be travelling around belgium/germany.

Is anyone bringing a bucket and sponge? Or will the hotel have one we can use? My scoob is going to be filthy after a weeks driving round places, gonna want to wash it before it goes out for the nice photographers camped around the ring!

I reckon there should be the occasional check in from our 2 sets of European Adventurers to let us know how their respective trips are going

As I am not with Gary I am struggling with track insurance. Not too sure what to do. Got Breakdown and notified my insurance compnay that I am taking it abroad, so thats all done, its just the trackday. Although I am thinking at this stage of 1 or 2 laps only anyway. Is everyone getting track ins?

How quickly can you change insurance companies I wonder?

It's getting harder to find track insurance to be honest, someone came up with an alternative name at the meet we had. I cannot remember that name for the life of me.

lol love the way you lot talk about banging out a couple of laps on your first trip like it's a trip round brands indy circuit do not under-estimate highs and stomach churning ride that is THE RING.
It'll take you all afternoon to wind up to do a lap and all evening to wind back down again.

Couldnt agree more, it took me a good while to get myself ready for a lap, and yes it was somewhat scary, it was all the bloomin bikes that took me by surprise.
But, wow what a buzz.
If i do venture down with Steve and Laura i will be getting loads of pics and video of you all,as dont honestly think i will have the nerve to go round as a passenger.

I get the feeling there are a few peolpe rather concerned about the accident rate at the ring, following a couple of chats today.
I have to tell you all that havnt been before the roads around the area, the scenery, pubs, food etc are worth the trip alone without even going on the ring.
Take look at last years pics, stunning place.

I couldn't agree more. The trip to the ring is about having an unforgetable experience more than putting in fast laps and racing all and sundry.

I have said it before in these threads, I will not be tonking round there at any time over the weekend. I will buy a four lap ticket, of which I may not even use all four. And I will go round the ring at my own pace. To be honest, there is only one member of the boys going down there with enough track knowledge of the ring to even consider this as an option and that is Nige.

If I wanted a fast lap of the ring, I would either scrounge a lift with Nige or Ray (if I was VERY lucky) or, I would chip in with some of the others and have a blast round in one of the ring taxis. It really is as simple as that.

Please think of this whole weekend as nothing more, than a fantastic weekend away, having a few beers, with a great group of mates, watching from the sidelines as people go round the ring, some fast, the vast majority not so fast. And if you fancy it, have a go yourself.

I honestly had one of the best weekends of my entire life last year. And I never went on the track at all, not one single time. That says it all in my opinion.

As much as i like to think i'm fast compared to some there i'm dog slow. Ive only been 2 times & as i cant find my way around Hastings after 24years dont rely on me to know were i'm going at the ring. I can remember jack **** of the important bit's of the ring. I will however be going full beans to try & keep up with Neil & Ray as they do know were there going. Best thing is have a laugh let the people pass who want to & drive your own pace ............................ BOLLOCK'S TO THAT LET THE DEVIL TAKE OVER & SORT THE SAUSAGE MUNCHER'S OUT

The wind up and wind down - I remember it well. When we went a few years back, I took the opportunity to go round once on the eve we arrived, so on the next day, we knew what we were in for. Many of the others spent the first eve churning over the next day. We no longer had that problem.

On the next day, only managed two laps without a break, as it was so intense. And only three more laps during the course of the day. As the track was damp, there were no bikes out - what a relief!

Of course there is the issue that you can start a lap dry, and some way round find it's been raining - bit of a shocker!

Just been on the blower to Moley - All sorted for breakdown, as I'm only planning to do a couple of laps and my Insurance doesn't specifically exclude the ring I'm going to take a chance on the insurance.
