Welcome mate

It might help if you include what other supporting mods you have beside the sti inter cooler.... For a 20g turbo you would need injectors and fuel pump upgraded before you start. Once done you should see 380ish depending on quality of turbo. As standard you will probably be at around 220bhp if you mapped with what you have at mo you should see 280ish

Hope this helps

thanks pj

im looking at just peaking 300 bhp really ,dont wont to go to mad

one other thing is my standerd wrx intercooler looks the same as a sti intercooler,

im guessing that the sti has more cooling fins than the wrx

thanks for your help

I think the sti inter cooler has a bigger core...not entirely sure how much bigger it is. If you are looking at peaking at 300 then definitely do not put the 20g turbo on as that is huge. You can sell it to me instead lol....anyway I would just stick with the standard td04 yes it might not quite hit 300 although I know of some that have but it makes a very responsive car on the td04.

This is Duncan http://www.racedynamix.co.uk/remap/racedynamix/

Ok....hmm I wouldn't push it that far to be honest to be safe. Are you sure you have a td05-20g or a 16g? If it's the former I think you would be a bit disappointed to be honest as the turbo won't be able to boost properly....

Ok mate your call...my opinion is it would be a waste of money because it will be very laggy and in order to reap the full benefits your would need to do the rest of the supporting mods and then pay again for a tweak on the map.also bear in mind that you are on a 5 speed box so depending how you drive it might not last too long at much above 350. Just to put things in perspective when I had a wrx engine in my foz with a vf28 it maxed out the injectors at 330ish and had to be pegged back to 316 for safety. Your call mate just sharing the things I have picked up from others and my own experiences

Just 3" decat and up pipe leave your inter cooler as it is with the td04 and it should make that and yeah panel filter...up-pipe helps it spool up quicker

I had 280 ish from my 2002 with a miltek 3' sports cat system, K&N, 255l pump, prodrive 3 port boost solenoid and std turbo

When I went to an APS Sr40 with sti intercooler I got the car up to 380 ish but the engine let go!

I'd sell the 20g on personally and get a decent 18g turbo, the wrx engines are not actually that strong out of the box!

It's luck of the draw I ran a 20g for 4 years at 409 bhp with a 5 speed in my bugeye and it all survived

i would put a vf35 from an sti on it, make sure pink injectors and new uprated fuel pump installed.

if you want to sell 20g i might be interested.

Duncan - Racedynamix for mapping or Neil at Slowboy near Brands Hatch.

I put a VF43 on my bug wrx, but a bit laggy, 20g probably even worst. i would aim for 300 to 330bhp and be happy as still rapid but gearbox should be ok.

I am running 280ish bhp from my 01 bugeye with a look for more power. As said, 330 bhp is available with a VF30 STI turbo but you will have to do injectors and fuel pump. And clutch. lol

clutch should be ok, but factor in you may have to do and skim/replace flywheel.

mine seemed ok on roughly 310 to 330bhp and that was track driven quite hard. depends on age and condition I expect. I do have a completion clutches stage 2 I think it is on a light weight flywheel now, but car is in bits so not used. though is getting pulled back out again to be used in something else shortly.
