Default Shifting question

Evening guys hope everyone is well.

This has now happened to me a few times and I'm thinking that its just me still not being used to a turbo'd motor but here goes.

Mostly happens when changing from 3rd to 4th when giving it a little bit of a push, the turbo just cuts dead as soon as I press the clutch, worse feeling than hitting the limiter, any thoughts at all? Or is my pride about my driving style about to be hurt quite badly?

So your driving along in third and go full throttle, you then need to change to fourth so you depress clutch, select gear and release clutch like a normal gear change.

When in the cycle does it occur? clutch depression? Even though its "standard" can you provide a photo of the engine bay please? unless your 100% that there is a recirc valve on it?

Its as soon as I press the clutch, it happens also at 3/4 throttle, its deffenitly a standard valve on it, I'm wondering if its the prodrive map on it or like I said its me not used to the characteristics of a turbo lump

You shouldnt feel it just loose power/boost altogether, especially on the 2.5, the whole thing with those is they are torquey. May be worth getting it checked. You should feel the turbo spool from about 2500rpm, so if you are pushing along it should pull smoothly between changes.

Yeah the turbo spool's perfectly fine and off you go, just don't want it to keep happening and then have the turbo go completely on me, if that happens then the dealer I bought it from will have Subaru shaped butt plug!

at what sort of revs?? the WRX (and your 270 that its based on) have a small turbo which is easperated by the 2.5 and they dont warrant being driven high in the revs.........better to short shift like a turbo-diesel for best/quickest results
